Please come and say hi! I’ll sign your book with a smile!

Signing_1First, a thank you to all Mlblog writers and readers who have emailed me about how much they enjoy my novel. Sure, I’ve thanked you all individually, but I’m a good thanker, so here’s a public one!

My next reading has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 15th at 7:00 PM at the Time Warner Center at 10 Columbus Circle. Have you been to the Time Warner building? It’s swankety-swank.

Conveniently, the Mets are playing an away game that evening. See? I knew they scheduled their games around my book publicity. Thanks guys! I don’t know if Borders will let me start my reading with the National Anthem and a ceremonial first pitch, but it can’t hurt to ask.

I promise you a fun time with lots of laughs. You can read the hilarious story of my last (and first) reading here. Make sure you read to the very end for the best part–it’s good stuff!

I’ll happily sign books and chat after the reading. It would be great to meet you all in person! I hope you’ll come and support a fellow Mets superfan.

Will I remind you all closer to the reading date? Ummm….yeah. Reader response to Pick Me Up has been truly amazing, and I hope you’ll "pick it up" and enjoy a great read–or give it to a woman you love.

Zoe, how long did it take from the time you submitted your novel to a literary agent to get published?

  2. Zoe

Hmm, Level, that’s a good question. I submitted the manuscript to my agent as a partial, meaning about half done. My agent gave me notes, and I revised for a long time (about 8 months) before I thought I had something worth selling. We then went to publishers and sold it, but I still had half the novel left to write! I finished the book in another 4-5 months, but that was in June 2005. Since it’s a “summer book” it wouldn’t be published until a year later.

    A long process indeed!

My next one will probably take half the time. Lessons learned and all.

But in the end, my novel truly turned out exactly as I wanted!
